Nagpur college student rapes, impregnates stepmother; arrested

A 21-year-old college student named Akshat Srivastava has been arrested by the Nagpur Police for allegedly raping his stepmother. The incident resulted in a four-month pregnancy for the 26-year-old survivor.

As the police complaint reads, the woman met 55-year-old Vikas Srivastava, a manager at a private bank, in 2024 for the prospect of a job. However, their relationship flourished with time and ended up in a marriage, which Akshat, Vikas’s son, disapproved of.

The complaint further suggests that the domestic dispute became a regular occurrence in the household, with Akshat severely torturing the woman. The survivor reported a few incidents to the police.

On April 10, 2026, Akshat entered her room and allegedly assaulted her sexually. He also threatened the woman with death after assaulting her.

The survivor told her husband about the incident. However, instead of supporting her, Vikas asked her to stay silent in maintaining the family’s social standing and securing his son’s future in academia.

Nonetheless, the woman reported the incident to the local police station, and based on her complaint, the police registered a case and started investigating the incident. A few days after the investigation, they apprehended the accused.
