CCTV shows Twisha Sharma heading to roof, husband carrying her body an hour later

CCTV footage has added a dramatic new layer to the alleged dowry death case of 33-year-old Twisha Sharma, showing her walking towards the rooftop of her Bhopal home shortly before her death and later being carried downstairs by her husband and two others.

As per the exclusive footage accessed by India Today, it captures Twisha climbing the stairs towards the terrace. Around an hour later, her husband Samarth Singh and two men are seen bringing down her body through the staircase.

The CCTV visuals also appear to show attempts to administer CPR to Twisha on the stairs moments after she was brought down.

Her family, however, has informed police about a timing error in the CCTV system. They say the date displayed in the footage is incorrect and that the video is from May 12, not May 10.

The case has triggered outrage in Madhya Pradesh after Twisha’s family accused her husband and in-laws of dowry harassment and murder, allegations now being investigated by a Special Investigation Team.

HUSBAND STILL MISSING

Twisha, who married lawyer Samarth Singh in December 2025 after meeting him through a dating app, was found hanging at her marital home in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area on May 12.

While Samarth Singh remains absconding, a local court on Monday reserved its order on his anticipatory bail plea.

His mother, retired judge Giribala Singh, has already secured anticipatory bail.

ACP Rajneesh Kashyap Kaul said a cash reward had also been announced.

“A reward of Rs 10,000 has been announced in the case. Several teams have been deployed to catch the accused Samarth Singh. Correspondence has also been sent to the passport office so that constitutional action can be taken. Our six teams are engaged in the investigation,” he said.

Misrod ACP Rajneesh Kashyap, who is heading the SIT probe, said efforts were underway to trace Samarth Singh.

Kashyap said the preliminary post-mortem report from AIIMS Bhopal indicated death due to “hanging suicide”.

He also said action would be taken if investigators were found negligent in failing to send the rope allegedly used in the hanging to AIIMS during the autopsy process.

BAIL PLEA CLAIMS TWISHA WAS UNDER PSYCHIATRIC TREATMENT

The case took a controversial turn after details from Samarth Singh’s bail application surfaced publicly.

The plea alleged that Twisha was addicted to drugs, suffered from psychiatric issues and was undergoing counselling and medical treatment.

According to the application, she would become irritable and develop trembling hands when she did not have access to narcotic substances.

The plea also claimed she had travelled to Delhi on April 17 and remained untraceable for nearly 12 hours before reaching her parents’ house the following day.

It further alleged that Twisha’s behaviour towards her in-laws changed after she became pregnant and that she had suffered a miscarriage.

The application denied allegations of dowry harassment and claimed Twisha had regularly received online financial support from her in-laws, attaching transaction records ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 50,000.

Speaking publicly after securing bail, Giribala Singh defended her son and rejected accusations levelled by Twisha’s family.

“Samarth and Twisha liked each other. Twisha came to our house first, then her parents came later. There was a huge difference between our families, but we still agreed to the marriage,” she said.

“She entered the glamour world at a very young age. Her death is a huge shock for us too,” Giribala added.

She also claimed Twisha had been taking medication and had consumed MTP pills on May 7.

“The first child is very important, but she never let us feel that happiness even for a moment,” she said.

‘MY LIFE IS HELL’: TWISHA CHATS SURFACE

WhatsApp chats accessed by India Today revealed the woman pleading with her mother to “take me away from here”.

The chats, exchanged between Twisha and her mother on May 7, five days before her death, paint a disturbing picture of alleged emotional harassment inside her marital home in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal.

In one message, Twisha allegedly wrote, “I am very disturbed these people are very horrible. They keep suspecting me. Samarth asks whose child is in my womb.”

In another message, she pleaded with her mother, “Please come and take me away from here these people will not let me live.”

At one point in the chat, Twisha wrote, “My life has become hell.”

She also claimed, “These people are very cruel. Samarth does not even speak to me properly.”

The revelations emerged hours after Judge Pallavi Dwivedi’s court rejected Samarth Singh’s anticipatory bail plea.

FAMILY AND IN-LAWS TRADE CHARGES

The case has become increasingly bitter, with both families making serious allegations against each other.

Giribala Singh publicly defended her son and denied allegations of dowry harassment.

She claimed Twisha had been undergoing psychiatric treatment and had admitted to consuming marijuana heavily.

She also claimed Twisha had consumed MTP pills on May 7 and had repeatedly expressed that she did not want a child.

According to the bail application filed on behalf of Samarth Singh, Twisha was allegedly undergoing psychiatric counselling, suffered mood swings and had a history of drug use.

The plea also claimed she had travelled to Delhi in April and remained untraceable for several hours before reaching her parents’ home.

Twisha’s family has rejected all such allegations and accused the accused side of attempting to tarnish her image after her death.

On Sunday, her relatives staged a protest outside Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s residence, demanding a second post-mortem examination at AIIMS Delhi.

Her father, Navnidhi Sharma, alleged that the local investigation had been compromised and said the family wanted an independent autopsy in Delhi.

As CCTV footage, WhatsApp chats and courtroom revelations continue to emerge, the Twisha Sharma case has rapidly turned into one of the most closely watched investigations in Madhya Pradesh, with growing scrutiny over what happened inside the Katara Hills home in the final days before her death.

QUESTIONS OVER EVIDENCE AND INVESTIGATION

The SIT is investigating allegations of dowry harassment, physical assault and possible destruction of evidence after Twisha’s death.

Meanwhile, Giribala Singh’s lawyer questioned the presence of army personnel around the court premises during the hearings.

“Why are army people present in a civil matter? Who called them here?” the advocate asked.

The lawyer also referred to the family’s military background, saying Samarth Singh’s father had died in a militant ambush in Manipur in 1999 while transporting ballot boxes.

As the CCTV footage circulates widely and the husband remains missing, the case has turned into one of the most closely watched investigations in Madhya Pradesh, with competing narratives from both families intensifying scrutiny over what really happened inside the Katara Hills house on May 12.
