TCS sexual harassment case: Woman employee details months of harassment at Nashik unit

A woman employee at Tata Consultancy Services’ (TCS) Nashik BPO unit has alleged months of sexual harassment, stalking, inappropriate touching and derogatory remarks against her religion by five colleagues, according to a detailed police complaint accessed by India Today TV.

In her statement, the complainant said she joined TCS as an associate on June 20, 2025, and began training on June 24 under Shahrukh Qureshi and another colleague. During this period, she alleged that Raza Memon, a team leader in the loans department, would frequently enter the training room despite having no formal role and make personal and suggestive remarks.

“He would ask, ‘Since your husband is out of town, how do you manage everything all alone? Don’t you feel scared? If you need anything, I am ready to help anytime’,” she stated. She further alleged that both Raza Memon and Shahrukh Qureshi questioned her marriage, asking whether it was “arranged or love”, and made insinuations about her personal life. Memon allegedly gave her a nickname, ‘Player’, and repeatedly addressed her by it in the office.

According to the complaint, Memon also made remarks such as, “If I were in your husband’s place, I wouldn’t have left you alone,” while standing in close proximity to her.

After completing training, the complainant moved to on-the-job training in September 2025 and later into a production role. During this period, she alleged that Asif Ansari, an associate from another team, began approaching her frequently and sitting beside her without invitation.

She accused Ansari of repeated physical advances and inappropriate touching. “He would deliberately touch my body, try to hold my hand, place his hand on my thigh or shoulder,” she stated, adding that he once hugged her ‘forcefully’.

The complainant further alleged that Ansari propositioned her despite knowing she was married. “Don’t you like me? I am more handsome than your husband. Come out with me… even if something happens, no one will know,” he allegedly told her. She said he continued to approach her during lunch breaks, sit close to her, and make remarks such as, “If you have any physical needs, I will fulfil them”.

She also alleged that Ansari made offensive comments targeting her religion. According to her statement, he said that “in your religion, women get raped because they don’t wear a burqa” and made derogatory remarks about Hindu gods, which she said hurt her religious sentiments.

In January 2026, during Makar Sankranti, she alleged that Ansari commented on her saree, saying, “Your blouse design is nice. If the lace is removed, there will be a whole show”.

The complainant also named Tausif Attar, alleging that he would visit her desk daily despite not being part of her team, bring food and make sexually suggestive remarks. She alleged that he used double-meaning comments while looking at her in an obscene manner.

According to her, Attar would come physically close, touch her inappropriately and, under the pretext of teaching her telecalling work after office hours, “put his cheek on mine, place his hand on my shoulder and run his hand over my arm and thigh”.

The complainant further alleged that on the occasion of Gudi Padwa in March 2026, Raza Memon pulled her saree from behind. “When I turned around, he was holding it and smiling at me in a dirty manner,” she stated.

She also named Shafi Sheikh, alleging that he circled around her multiple times on the same day, staring at her inappropriately. She claimed that several of the accused would pass remarks about her appearance, including statements such as “Your husband married you because you look very beautiful”.

The complainant said the incidents occurred between June 2025 and March 2026 at TCS’s Ashoka Marg office in Nashik. She stated that she did not initially report the harassment due to fear of losing her job.

She has filed a legal complaint against Shahrukh Qureshi, Raza Memon, Asif Ansari, Tausif Attar and Shafi Sheikh, alleging sexual harassment, stalking, inappropriate touching and hurting of religious sentiments.

The allegations are part of a broader controversy at the IT firm’s Nashik unit. The National Commission for Women (NCW) has constituted a fact-finding committee to probe complaints of sexual harassment, including serious allegations such as rape and attempts at forced religious conversion involving female employees.

TCS, meanwhile, said it followed a zero-tolerance policy towards harassment and coercion, and confirmed that employees named in the complaints have been suspended pending inquiry.
