UP man, in relationship with dead friend’s wife, kills her over marriage pressure

Police in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr have solved the sensational case of a beheaded woman whose body was found earlier this week, arresting her live-in partner and his accomplice for the murder.

The victim, identified as Babli, was in a relationship with the main accused Vikas after the death of her husband Ajay due to cancer. According to police, Vikas and Ajay had earlier worked together at a hospital in Delhi, and he was known to the family.

Investigators said Vikas’ family had fixed his marriage elsewhere in December 2025, leading to tensions as Babli allegedly began pressuring him to marry her. “Unable to handle the pressure, he conspired to eliminate her,” police said.

Vikas, along with his brother-in-law Aman and another associate, allegedly lured Babli to a secluded spot on a motorcycle and killed her using a sharp-edged weapon. To prevent identification, they beheaded her and dumped the head about 500 metres away from the body.

The case came to light after a headless body was discovered in the area four days ago, triggering panic. Police launched an intensive probe, forming multiple teams and using surveillance inputs and informers to trace the accused.

The victim was eventually identified after police circulated details, including markings on her hand, on social media. Her family approached the police and confirmed her identity.

Senior police officer Shankar Prasad said the accused had planned the murder in advance and executed it when he got the chance. “The body and head were disposed of at separate places to conceal identity,” he said, adding that a chopper and two country-made firearms have been recovered from the accused.

Police have arrested Vikas and Aman, while efforts are underway to nab the third accused.
