Ludhiana woman’s murder solved: Husband came from Phagwara, murdered her and then went back, say police | Chandigarh News
A day after 26-year-old woman from Bhamian road of Ludhiana was found murdered at her residence with her throat slit, the police said that the case was solved within 24 hours with the arrest of her husband who had earlier claimed that he had gone to Phagwara to see an ailing relative when the incident happened. The woman was found dead Monday morning.
According to the police the man slit the throat of his wife with a paper cutting blade when she was sleeping. Police said that according to the husband, his wife used to ill-treat his 14-year old son from his first marriage (woman’s stepson).
Police said that the accused identified as Dadwal Kumar, an employee of Vardhman Mills, planned the murder. He first went to Phagwara on Sunday claiming that he had to see his ailing nephew. He returned to Ludhiana on the intervening night and killed his wife. After the murder, he again returned to Phagwara.
On Monday morning when his son informed him about the murder, he expressed shock and rushed back to Ludhiana.
Addressing a press conference, Ludhiana police commissioner Mandeep Singh Sidhu said that police received information regarding the murder of Pooja (26) around 6.30 am Monday. Her stepson was first to witness the dead body, who raised an alarm and informed the neighbours. Later, he made a call to his father who had gone to Phagwara.
Sidhu said that Dadwal had married Pooja in 2017 after the death of his first wife who had died of an illness. Dadwal has a 14-year-old son and a 7-year-old daughter from his first wife. While his daughter was living with her grandmother in Bihar, his son was living with him. Dadwal and Pooja had two twin sons, aged 5, who were sleeping with her when she was killed.
“During questioning Dadwal told police that Pooja used to ill-treat his son and forced him to do household chores. She used to beat him over petty things. His son had complained to him several times so he planned to kill her,” said CP Sidhu.
“On Sunday, he went to Phagwara to see his ailing nephew. He took a bus to reach Phagwara. After reaching there, he made a video call to his mother-in-law to create an evidence in his favor. Later in the night, he again took a bus from Phagwara and reached Ludhiana. He took a cutter slit her throat in her sleep. He went back to Phagwara in a bus,” he added.
An FIR for murder was registered at Jamalpur police station and the accused has been arrested, said CP Sidhu.
