Kargil Vijay Diwas: Akshay Kumar, Sidharth Malhotra remember martyrs | Bollywood News
On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, Bollywood celebrities joined India in remembering martyrs who laid their lives in the Kargil War. Actors such as Akshay Kumar, Sidharth Malhotra and Nimrat Kaur, among others, took to social media to pay tribute to the martyrs.
The Kargil War took place in 1999 between India and Pakistan. Films such as LOC Kargil, Lakshya, Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, and Shershaah have been based on the war.
Sidharth Malhotra, who played the role of Kargil martyr Captain Vikram Batra in the film Shershaah, wrote on Twitter, “Honoring the brave soldiers of our army and paying tribute to Capt. Vikram Batra on this #KargilVijayDiwas. Let us remember the courageous souls who fearlessly defended our motherland during the Kargil War. Their sacrifice and valor shall forever be etched in our hearts. Jai Hind!”
Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher, Nimrat Kaur and Abhishek Bachchan also shared their tributes.

Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated every year on 26 July, to remember the Kargil martyrs and celebrate India’s win during the 1999 Kargil War with Pakistan.
