“Kudmayi”, the wedding song from Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, was released by the makers on Thursday. It showcases the wedding sequence of Rocky (Ranveer Singh) and Rani (Alia Bhatt). The song played during the end credits of the movie.
A part of Kudmayi’s video has Rani’s family members picking her up during the varmala ceremony while Rocky goes down on his knee, waiting for her to put the garland around his neck. At a special event of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani in Mumbai, Alia shared how the particular shot brought back memories of her wedding with Ranbir Kapoor where something similar happened.
She recalled, “There’s a moment in the song, where Ranveer bends and puts his head ahead like that and lets me put the varmala on him, that moment actually happened with me. During my wedding, they lifted Ranbir but no one had lifted me. I was like, ‘Can someone please lift me up as well?’ But then he only went down on his knees and I put the varmala. So, it was quite close to reality.” A video of the same is going viral on social media.

Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor got married at their Mumbai home on April 14 in the presence of only their family members and close friends. Four days after her wedding, Alia was back on the set of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani to shoot for the song “Kudmayi”.
Narrating a funny anecdote from the shoot, Alia shared, “My real wedding was very simple. I was roaming around freely but here there was a very heavy lehenga, dupatta. When Rocky aur Rani were taking phere, someone said, ‘The boy goes ahead during the phere.’ But I told them that even girls do. I said, ‘Main abhi abhi karke aayi hu (I have just done it). It was a really funny moment.”
“Kudmayi” is composed by Pritam and penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya. Shahid Mallyap has sung the beautiful number.
Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is pulling people to theatres in huge numbers. The film has crossed Rs 70 crore mark within six days of its release, and is showing no signs of slowing down.
